Encouraging a Lifelong Love of Reading

Since 2008, the Elizabeth Stampede has proudly sponsored the Stampede to Read program. The program's success is evident in the steady increase in students meeting their reading goals. However, the true measure of success lies in the children's enthusiasm for reading. Parents have shared delightful stories of their kids being so eager to earn their rodeo tickets that reading becomes the top priority upon returning home, even before having a snack. Some children even ask to stay up just a bit longer to ensure they reach their reading targets.

Every year, students eagerly anticipate the assemblies that kick off the event. And who wouldn't be excited when J.W. Winklepleck, our beloved rodeo clown, visits the schools? He not only teaches the students about rodeos but also emphasizes the importance of reading, all while ensuring everyone has a fantastic time!
