COMMUNITY OUTREACH

During rodeo weekend, this committee is responsible for the information booth, the parade, Behind-the-Chutes tours, visitor services. Year ’round they work with the media, volunteer photographers and are involved in a variety of events including Stampede to Read, Harvest Festival, Christmas tree lighting, hosting the Elizabeth Stampede Parade, and much more.

COMMUNITY RODEO

The Stampede started out as an amateur rodeo in the early 1950’s until 1988 when became a professional event. We keep the amateur tradition alive each year by organizing and conducting the annual Elizabeth Stampede Community Rodeo. Committee volunteers work with the livestock contractor sponsors, vendors and others who are involved with and who support the Community Rodeo. The volunteers plan events, publicize the rodeo, make contact with local contestants, set up the rodeo grounds, prepare the arena, run the events, dismantle and clean-up afterwards, and much much more.

CONCERT

Several volunteer opportunities are available on the concert committee. Gate attendants greet spectators and scan tickets. Ushers direct spectators to their seats or direct them to the appropriate general admission areas. Security volunteers help with bag checks, watching perimeter of arena, checking wrist bands to be sure spectators are where they are supposed to be and guarding front of stage. Stage hands assist with stage set up, load in and load out of artists’

ENTERTAINMENT

Entertainment is responsible for planning and operating the Rodeo Beer Garden. The Beer Garden is open Thursday through Sunday. We are looking for volunteers who like to laugh and have fun while interfacing with rodeo patrons. Our volunteers check ID’s, sell alcohol tickets, pour and distribute the liquor. Most of the shifts are about four to four and a half hours, and require no particular skills sets – just a great attitude! Beer, bands, and dancing have been a part of the Stampede for 50 years, and it can be a very rewarding part of your Elizabeth Stampede volunteer experience.

Facilities mission is to maintain the rodeo grounds. They oversee workdays to prepare for the rodeo and are  responsible for shutting down, disassembling and locking down the facilities at the end of the rodeo.

HOSPITALITY

This committee and its volunteers uphold a Stampede tradition that started more than 30 years ago. They prepare and serve home-cooked meals for the contestants and their families, volunteers, stock contractors, and sponsors.

MARKETING

The Marketing committee is responsible for the branding and messaging of the Rodeo and its affiliations. We use a variety of tools to “get the word out” about the Elizabeth Stampede, Concert, and committee activities. The committee is responsible for the Elizabeth Stampede magazine that reaches more than 10,000 homes, manages our social media, and works with the press and media for coverage of our events.

MERCHANDISING

This committee and its volunteers design, select, produce, source, market, and sell rodeo and western lifestyle merchandise on behalf of the Stampede Rodeo. Belts and buckles, jackets, hoodies, tee-shirts, hats, art, and more is offered for sale in the Stampede Store during rodeo weekend and at other events. Committee volunteers work with the chair and vice chair year ’round but the action-packed rodeo weekend is when we really need lots of volunteers.  Join us and you’ll have a great time interacting with other volunteers and rodeo fans during the Best Little Rodeo in Colorado.

PARKING

The parking committee is responsible for the management of parking for the Stampede. This includes the management of spectator, contestant and vendor parking. This committee coordinates with other volunteer groups in collecting parking payments, directs cars into and out of the rodeo grounds, assists spectators with special needs and coordinates with security for emergencies.

PRODUCTION

The Production Committee and its volunteers are responsible for everything that happens “inside the pipes.” We are unique in the rodeo world as we supply all the staff that runs and produces the events.  Most rodeos hire contractors, or the stock contractor brings employees to fill these roles. Many of the positions on the committee require experience with rodeo livestock for safety reasons.

ROYALTY

The Royalty Program oversees and supports the young ladies that serve as ambassadors for our rodeo. A Queen and Attendant represent the Elizabeth Stampede throughout the Mountain States Circuit (Colorado and Wyoming) and at local rodeos, charity, and community events. These young ladies are knowledgable about PRCA, animal welfare, the sport of rodeo, and the Western rodeo overall.

SECURITY

The security committee is responsible for the safety and well-being of spectators, volunteers and vendors. This committee secures the perimeter of the park before and during the rodeo, and clears the park between Saturday performances. They also coordinate with local law enforcement and first responders to manage and mitigate emergencies, altercations, lost children and any other events that may arise.

SOCIAL

The Social committee provides food and beverages for volunteer events and during workdays and the annual planning meetings. They host two big events, the rodeo kickoff party and holiday awards banquet.

SPONSORSHIP

Sponsorship is responsible for creating important partnerships with local and regional businesses whose generosity makes the rodeo possible. Volunteers recruit sponsors, design, publish and distribute the Stampede’s annual magazine, design and hang the arena signs, coordinate the sponsor announcements, flags and video scoreboard for each rodeo performance, and more.

TECHNOLOGY

This committee designs and maintains the technology that supports the rodeo including the design and development of the website, management of the back-office technology including Microsoft 365. Additionally, this committee works with many other committees to ensure their technology needs are met. This committee also ensure that wifi is operational during the rodeo and concert.

TICKET SALES

This committee makes all the arrangements for online ticket sales, staffs the ticket booth. During each performance, volunteers scan tickets at the main gate, serve as Arena Guides showing fans to their seats and ensuring the safety of all in the stands. 

VENDORS

The Vendor committee lays out Vendor Alley, prepares the booth spaces, and meets the special needs of our vendors including providing electrical power and other services.
