In the News…

Our own Rhianna Russell, 2007-2008 Stampede Queen and active volunteer, takes the title of Miss Rodeo Colorado 2014.

Congratulations to the 2014 Miss Rodeo Colorado Rhianna Russell

Rhianna Russell, the 2007-2008 Elizabeth Stampede Queen, bested a field of six talented young women from across Colorado to be named the 2014 Miss Rodeo Colorado.  The fourday competition during the Greeley Independence Stampede Rodeo wrapped up at Greeley Central High School with Rhianna also taking home the Speech Award, the Personality Award and highly sought after Horsemanship Award.  Rhianna received the top score in 3 of the 5 awards they present.

Rhianna is the daughter of Jim and Kimberly Russell of Conifer and served as the Elizabeth Stampede Queen during 2007-2008.  Since then she has been an active volunteer assisting with the Rodeo Committee, Royalty, Behind the Chutes Tours, VIP Host and the Stampede Experience as well as tirelessly promoting the Elizabeth Stampede.  She has also interned with the PRCA Industry Outreach group in Colorado Springs.2014 Miss Rodeo Colorado Rihanna Russell

Rhianna will be the Miss Royalty Colorado (MRC) Royalty in Waiting until January when she will be crowned Miss Rodeo Colorado 2014 at the National Western Stock Show.  During that year she will represent the State of Colorado and the Elizabeth Stampede promoting rodeo not only in Colorado but across the nation.  She will end her 2014 year competing for the Miss Rodeo America title in Las Vegas at the National Finals Rodeo. This will be the first time in Elizabeth Stampede history that one of our Royalty will serve as Miss Rodeo Colorado.

This is a great honor for Rhianna who worked very hard preparing for the competition.  We are all very proud of her and look forward to her success as Miss Rodeo Colorado.  The expenses for fulfilling this role are significant and Rhianna receives no financial assistance from the MRC committee for all the travel throughout the year or for the competition expense at Miss Rodeo America.  Stay tuned as there will be opportunities for all of us to support her fund raising efforts.

Please join us all in congratulating Rhianna for a well deserved honor!
