Welcome Elizabeth Stampede Contestants

On behalf of the entire family of Elizabeth Stampede volunteers let me welcome you to our 25th Anniversary PRCA Rodeo. We are extremely excited to reach this milestone and we can't thank you the contestants enough for your support over the years. We can't think of a better way to celebrate the Stampede's first ever "PRCA Small Rodeo of the Year" award than combining it with our 25th PRCA Rodeo.

For 2012 new changes include our first ever "Xtreme Bulls" event on Friday June 1st at 7:00 PM. We are very excited to be working with the PRCA to host the Extreme Bulls and a PRCA Rodeo back to back for the first time in Elizabeth. Xtreme Bulls will be a $10,000 added money event while the rodeo on June 2nd and 3rd will have a total of $21,000 in added money. This is the max we can add and still be classified a Small Market Rodeo. Team Ropers for the 7th straight year there is equal money and we will also feature Bareback Riding in 2012 as well.

All PRCA card holders in good standing with dues paid by May 8th are encouraged to come join us for the celebration. Entries open at 12:00 noon on Friday May 11th and close on Monday May 14th at 12:00 noon. The Re-entry rule will be in effect with requests accepted on Tuesday May 29th between 12:00 noon and 2:00 PM and we are using Rodeo Pay this year as well.

Barrel Racers we have heard your cries for a change and think you will be thrilled by the new arena configuration which will allow you to come directly from the warm up pen into a center alley entrance to the arena. No more waiting in the staging area. The chutes have been moved back 18 feet from previous years to accommodate even more room for finishing your run. It will be an open gate into the arena but a closed gate for the finish, the same as in the past.

Our world class hospitality tent will be in full swing this year serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to our contestants and their immediate families (spouses and children). The "Cowboy Lounge" is back for a 3rd year along with chiropractic, massage and trainer assistance. There is free Wi-Fi and computers in the Cowboy Lounge. We've also moved the Contestant bleachers back to the north end where you and your family will now have the best seat in the house.

For those of you who came in 2011 you know we changed the contestant entrance from Highway 86 to off of County Road 17. If you are coming to us for the first time please check out the map below for the location of the entrance. Plan an extra 30 minutes for early arrival as the traffic on this road is shared with the fan parking and can be very heavy.

We have stalls, stock pens and RV hookups available at no cost to all contestants at the Elbert County Fairgrounds just 7 miles east on Hwy 86 from the Stampede arena. Directions and information will be available in your contestant packet when you arrive and in the secretary's office. They are all first come first served, no reservations.
